Research. Music Together® was first offered to the public in 1987 and pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum. Today classes are offered all over the world including a lab school in Princeton, New Jersey. Ongoing research at the lab school, as well as the research of others, continually informs Music Together’s work on program content and development, applications of the program, and teacher training. Everything we do in class has an educational purpose.

Mixed aged classes provide a rich learning environment because children of different ages thrive when they interact with each other. The babies are fascinated by the older children and the older kids enjoy helping and sharing. This approach is based on research from music education, early childhood development and family relationships.
Mixed-Age classes also mean you can bring your 3 year old and your 8 month old to the same class! We love having siblings learn from and with each other. We foster community through our Mixed-Age approach.

Each class is capped at 12 registered students (plus grown-ups and infant siblings). Occasionally, there may be an extra family or two using the class as a make-up.

Yes! The more, the merrier. You are welcome to bring additional parents, grandparents, and others to join in with our singing, dancing, and playing!

No, definitely not! All children are musical, even from a very young age. Babies love when we sing to them and as they grow, you’ll see them naturally responding to music by dancing and clapping. By giving them an opportunity to experience and explore music early on, we can help them develop their musical abilities.

Yes! In class we all (kids and grown-ups) sing, dance, and have fun! You might be surprised to hear that you are your child's most important music teacher right now—and it doesn't matter whether you think of yourself as a great singer or dancer. Kids learn to love music by observing and imitating their loved ones. Simply by joyfully participating during class and playing with the ideas at home, you'll give your children the modeling they need to learn to love to make music.
-
To your child, you are a rock star. They love what you do, they notice what you are enjoying and participating in, they learn what is safe to try or not. But most importantly, they aren’t judging your musical ability. They only care that you are singing, not how you are singing.
An added benefit of our music classes is the opportunity for you to develop your own musical abilities in a low-pressure environment!

Yes! Before the start of the semester, Music in The Beat Hive will offer demonstration classes out and about in the community. You are welcome to attend these classes for free to check-out the program. Once our session begins, you are welcome to join one of our classes as a trial for $10. One of the wonderful parts of Music Together® program is the rotation of songs and activities. Each semester brings a new and different song collection. There are 12 total collections, meaning it will take you 3 years to experience all of the Music Together material. We encourage families to keep returning semester after semester to build upon their child/children’s musical development and grow with the music!
