Get to Know Ms. Meghan

Hi everyone, get to know a little bit about me! Prior to starting Music in The Beat Hive LLC, I was a public school elementary music teacher. I taught K-5 music in Gwinnett County for 6 years, and before that, I taught elementary music, band, and high school marching band in New Jersey. I attended Gettysburg College for my Bachelor of Music Education degree, where I also studied Flute and Piccolo through the Sunderman Conservatory of Music. One of my favorite music-making experiences has been the 4 years of marching band I did in high school (and another 4 years in college!). I’m so thankful to have music as part of my life. I’d love to tell you a bit more about how I came to find Music Together® and what I love about it as a music teacher and a mom.

I took some time away from teaching to be home with my first child in mid 2024, and discovered Music Together during that time. I was looking for a professional and creative outlet for myself, but something that would allow me the flexibility to be home with my son. I also struggled to find a lot of options for age appropriate music-making experiences that also worked with the nap time schedule! While my business endeavor with Music Together meets all of those needs for me, I think it also meets needs of the community and is a program that is absolutely wonderful for our children and our families.

I feel so passionate about the program, philosophy, and the research behind it. It speaks to exactly what I have always wanted to achieve. Providing accessible, joyful music-making experiences to people of all ages (kids and grown-ups!). My goal as a music teacher has always been to inspire a love and appreciation for music that follows my students through the rest of their lives. That’s what I want for my son, too. And even though I have a background of teaching young students, I didn’t really know how to play musically with my son, how to encourage his musical development, and the stages of musical growth.

So with all of that being said, Music Together is just as much for me as a mom and a music teacher as it is for you! I hope to connect with you and meet you at a demo, trial, or full semester of classes sometime soon.
